Panhandle Gap trail from White River Campground to Summerland Camp in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. The hike starts at the C Loop of the White River Campground, and covers 6.7 miles up into the Goat Rock Wilderness. Ancient and towering red cedars and hemlock trees give the old growth forest here a Robin Hood kind of feel. The views of Panhandle Gap at the end of the hike are stunning, making this is the perfect trail for a weekend backpacking trip. Photo by William Byrne Drumm.
